I am Wiccan, so I did a ritual for my soul mate to finally come into my life. A few weeks later, Duane and I met online through Match.com. We were both trying out the 7 day free trial and managed to hook up through their e-mail system. We traded our e-mail address' and started writing each other back and forth every few days. After a while, we traded phone numbers and started talking on the phone too. We both knew what we wanted in a relationship and felt that it was time we met in person. So he flew down from Alaska to Idaho for a week. Well at the airport when I went to pick him up, his flight got in early, so I was glad I had allowed a lot of extra time for traffic to Spokane. When I saw him come off the plane my face lit up and I hugged him and gave him a big kiss. I knew that he was the one that had been sent to me, and we would be together forever after that moment.
I came back up here to Alaska and this feeling I have is that I need someone to love and to love me back. So I signed up with a few on-line single services, and it took me for ever to type a profile. I did, and I said to myself, this time I was going to see if someone contacted me instead of me contacting them. I was on Match.com for a few days and I get an e-mail from Shannon , she said to me that if you like my profile lets talk. I am glad she saw past my bad spelling and also she was the only one to contact me on any of the matching services. So we e-mail back and forth ,then when we were both on line we would use ICQ and we talked and I was going threw a bad time with women and she stuck threw it with me, even when I said that I did not want any thing to do with women. She helped me get over that, she was not like all the other women I had been around. Then she asked me when I was going to Idaho to see her, I was very nervous about it but she kept asking me when would I might be able to come down. So one day I decided to go down to get tickets to fly down there. I was also supposed to call her that night, I was so nervous about it that day I wrecked a car. At lunch time I went down and got them and then it seem like time stood still until the day finally came and to fly out of here and see Shannon. Beautiful Shannon that I had been talking to for months and writing poems to. So when I was on the last leg of the flight I was so nervous I was trying to get calm and my hands were sweating so I got of the plane and I saw Shannon. I thought that she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen so I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.
I was afraid to ask her to marry me. I was afraid that she would say no. I knew in my heart Shannon was the one I had been looking for, so on Sunday night she asked me to marry her, I was so happy at first I thought I was dreaming so I asked, "what?" thinking I was in some kind of dream world. She asked me again and then I knew I must be the luckiest guy in the world to have Shannon to be my wife.
Well Duane had been in Idaho for 3 days and we
just had this chemistry between us that sparked every time we looked at each
other. We had just gotten back to the hotel from dinner and dancing with a group
of friends, and I just thought, wow I really love this guy and I could spend the
rest of my life with him. Then I thought, I want to marry him. Sometimes I think
out loud so the next thing I know, I was asking," Will you marry me?" he looked
at me and smiled and said, "what?" then I asked again, "Will you marry me?" he
said ,"YES!!" That evening he came to meet my parents and I had kept a ring that
I bought years before for my husband, when I ever got married. I slipped it on
his finger, and it fit perfectly! He didn't want to tell my parents until we
could shop for a ring for me too, so the next day we went ring shopping and took
my grandmother with us. She said she could keep a secret, so we just went to
dinner with my folks. My mom saw the ring and we confessed that we were engaged.
They were a little shocked to say the least, but they were happy for us too.
See the Rings!
Will be held outside at my parents home.
Hopefully we will have good luck with the weather and the bugs! We are having a
ceremony that is part traditional and part Wiccan. I think they are blending
together nicely. A close friend of mine is a minister with the Church of
Universal Light, and she will be performing the ceremony. We feel very blessed
to have her loving energy at our wedding.
Update!!! The weather was a little bit of everything. It sprinkled rain that
morning, making everything humid, but by 3pm the clouds were moving out and the
sun was shining through. During the ceremony the sun glistened on all the rain
drops. The wind came a blew away all the insects, but we lit the tiki torches
with citronella oil anyway for light.
Will be immediately following the ceremony. We will have dancing, cake, food and merriment for all. The band Faded Moon, played country and 50's type rock 'N' roll, Our Song "When you say nothing at all" and my favorite song, "Grow old with you" from the movie "Wedding Singer"! We will be serving cold cuts, deli salads, beer, crab puffs, chicken wings, champagne, punch, and of course cake!
